Our little Angel Rory Corkery Charity cycle for Children with Cancer UK

Ring of Beara Charity Cycle Kenmare Co.Kerry Ireland · 25 May 2024
Hello All,
I’m doing 140km cycle in Kenmare Co. Kerry Ireland . The last time I visited Kerry it was with my wife and my 2 sons Oscar and Rory to see family and friends.
So I have decided to return to doing this cycle in memory for my darling boy Rory and to raise money for such a great cause, it’s very close to my heart. In November 2022, shortly after Halloween when Rory had just turned 2, one of my twin boys became very poorly and he was diagnosed with leukaemia. He started his cancer treatment’s straight away, it was gruelling treatment on his body, but Rory remained a happy little boy and even on those dark and hard days he always smiled and accepted everything that he needed to undergo to get better .
He would give the nurses high fives even though his body was feeling poorly and he wasn’t feeling well. He was our little superhero, a very brave little boy, most adults wouldn’t cope with what Rory had to endure on a daily and hourly basis at times.
We were left broken on 30th June 2023, Rory passed away at home after a 6 week admission in hospital where he became more and more unwell. He was a hero throughout his treatment, childhood cancer is a cruel disease and it takes too many too soon. To lose anyone is hard but to say goodbye to our son that was so energetic, happy and had so many adventures ahead was a terrible, sad blow.
Rorys twin brother Oscar talks of him daily, he knew Rory was very sick and has died, we visit his grave, sing him songs, talk to him daily and bring him gifts, to keep his memories always alive.
I’m cycling for Rory, for my family and for any little life impacted by this cruel illness.
Dear Rory, our love, you left us too soon, hope you are enjoying your adventures up on the moon. When we see a rainbow or any helicopters we always thinking of you our little angel on the moon. We miss you every minute of every day and one day we will see you again.
