Story
I've dusted off the bike after its winter break and am back in the saddle, doing training rides in the rain and the cold to get me in shape (or less out of shape), so that I can participate in the Duchenne Dash 2026. On May 8th, I will be cycling from London to Paris in just 24 hours to raise money for Duchenne UK — for my nephew Eli and all those living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
The Duchenne Dash is not just an event; it’s a journey and a movement that is transforming the future for everyone affected by this condition.
Over the past 14 years, the Dash has grown into Duchenne UK's biggest and most challenging fundraising event of the year, raising more than £9 million for DMD research. Every pedal stroke powers progress towards pioneering clinical trials, advocating for access to new treatments, and developing revolutionary technology that redefines mobility. DMD is a devastating genetic muscle-wasting disease that causes all muscles in the body to irreversibly weaken and deteriorate. While there is currently no cure for DMD, there is hope — we are making progress.
Since the first Dash in 2013, Duchenne UK has illuminated a once dark landscape. So many achievements — from building a clinical trial network to new drug approvals and vastly improving care — have been fueled by this incredible event. But our fight isn’t over yet; we still have miles to go before we reach our finish line.
I am asking you to join me on this journey. Together, we can make a difference! Please consider supporting my fundraising goal of £5,000 for Duchenne UK as I prepare for this monumental ride. Your contribution will help bring light and hope to those affected by DMD.
