Story
Following the success of our Super Rare walk in 2023, Becky and I will be hosting this again on March 21st 2026. This event is part of the Super Rare campaign, which aims to raise awareness of rare bone marrow failure conditions and help to unite the communities by holding events across the UK during February and March.
The walk is around the lovely Rake Brook and Lower Roddlesworth reservoir near Blackburn. Its generally flat all the way around however has occasional muddy areas and several steps to negotiate so prams and wheelchairs may need to be carried short distances.
Dogs and children are both extremely welcome both around the walk and in the pub afterwards. The Hare and Hounds have kindly reserved a section of the pub for us next to a log fire with hot drinks waiting. There is of course a great selection of ales and food available also should you wish to purchase these afterwards.
We hope that you can join us on this day and would love it if you could donate any amount towards SDS UK, a charity that as many of you know is very close to our hearts. All money raised will help support vital research into the treatment of Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome (SDS) and enable the organisation to host family days that bring joy to children and adults living with these conditions.
We are aiming to raise £500 to make a meaningful impact. Your support can help us achieve this goal and create a sense of belonging among those who need it most.
