Raising money for mental health support
It's important to take care of your mental health - and sometimes, that means getting support from a professional. But, waiting times can be long and not everyone can afford to access fast, essential care when they need it.
That's why MK charity Arthur Ellis exists - to get people care as quickly as possible.
One of their areas of focus is children and young adults, and their stats show why this is so important:
- In the UK, 1.4 million children suffer with mental health conditions.
- 39% of children that apply for needed mental health support get turned away.
- 51% of patients who get referred for their condition, don't get seen at all.
- The average wait time of a referral was 1,339 days (the charity does it in 4).
As someone who has benefitted from mental health support, I know how important this can be. Everything raised will go straight to the charity and help them to support people who need it.
What I'm doing
In exchange for your donation, I'll be putting myself through the MK Challenge Weekend (4-5 May, 2025). That includes the MK Rocket 5K on the Sunday morning and the MK Half Marathon on the Monday morning.
What makes this a challenge?
1. The furthest race event I've ever participated in is 10K
2. The last time I did that was... around ten years ago.
3. I started training for this 10 weeks before race day!
If that's not worth a couple of quid, I don't know what is!
As an aside, I already had a weekend booked to climb Snowdon on the 10th of May - so my feet will not be my friends after that week! But, it's all for a good cause, and that's the important thing.
So, thanks for visiting - any donations very welcome.
