Story
I’m Dan and in 2025, I completed a 30km trek through the Peak District for charity.
This year, I’m deciding to take it up a notch and I won’t be alone - I’m dragging my best mate along with me!
We’re taking on a 100k hike in the Lake District for Michael Sobell House (Harlington Hospice). MSH is only partially funded from the government and are reliant on fundraisers like ourselves to ensure that they can continue to operate and offer support and care for those who need it most.
I know first hand how incredible the work they do is – my mum, Denise, worked for the hospice for over a decade before we sadly lost her in December 2020.. Mums passion for this work and the importance of it is why I will be taking on this challenge.
James, my best friend of 30+ years, will be joining me through the ups, downs and everything in between. James sadly lost his mum, Eileen, in 2009 and she received end of life care from the hardworking and loving staff of Michael Sobell House.
It is for these two incredible women that we will walk, through rain, wind, snow, sun – whatever the British summer decides throw at us.
The hike will take place over two days, but between now and then, we’ve got plenty of training and fundraising to do.
I hope you’ll follow us on our journey to the hike and beyond – and our fundraising journey too.
Michael Sobell House must raise £2.4 million annually to keep running. Let’s all do our bit to help them put a dent in that!
Thank you in advance!
