Story
Thank you for visiting our just giving page. For those of you that knew Suzy or the family, will be aware we lost this amazing woman and my beautiful wife on July 9th 2023 and her brave fight against bowel cancer following diagnosis in September 2021. Suzy had just turned 42 when she passed away and leaves our 3 amazing Children Finley (19), Theo (16) & Frankie (9).
The last 2 years have been so tough for us all and the last 10 weeks have been so hard for all of us and all family and friends that knew and loved Sooz.To sum up the battle over nearly 2 years, is so tough, so many hospital appointments, so much treatment, so many emotions. But one thing that truly amazed us all through out was the generosity and just awesomeness of people during these tragic times. Suzy and us as a family had so so much support whether that was through donations to help fund private treatment, to some incredible generosity from some remarkable charities.
One charity that touched our hearts was ‘The Bowel Movement’. This charity was formed following a similar story to ours, when unfortunately a young life Benjamin Millard was tragically lost to bowel cancer. Following this his amazing family started a charity looking to raise awareness and help support individuals and families that were facing a similar battle they had faced. Not long after Suzy was diagnosed this amazing charity made contact and built an incredible relationship with Sooz and us as a family and there support allowed us to go and make some incredible memories that will last and stay with us all forever. Some of these wouldn’t have been possible without ‘The Bowel Movement’ and so many other families will have benefited also in what is such an awful and difficult time. Throughout Suzy’s battle they remained so supportive and meant so much to Sooz and to us. Since Suzy’s death, they have remained in contact with myself and have shown amazing support which continues.
So this is where the just giving page was born. So many people and charities have given us so so much, it’s now time for me and the family to give back to those that are so special. So here we go myself, Mark Jarman (Brother), Josh Davies (Cousin), Jake Wennen (Cousin), Emma Leigh (Cousin), Paul Edgington (Loose Cannon & friend) & Craig Price (friend) are running the ‘Bath Half Marathon’ on October 15th, where we will all be running for the ‘The Bowel Movement’, all hoping to raise as much money as we can to such a special charity.
We would be absolutely touched if you could donate to such a worthy cause, especially given we are 7 out of shape, poorly conditioned individuals trying to do something proactive and run this in Suzy’s name and in her honour. We also appreciate that life is difficult and cost of living is hitting us all. Even if you just spared the time to check out ‘The Bowel Movement’ website and read the story and paid close attention the the symptoms of bowel cancer we would be so appreciative.Thank you so much to everyone’s support and love to us as a family over the last 2 years and beyond. You mean and meant so much to Me, the boys and Suzy
Thanks
Dan

As most of you will all be aware we lost my amazing wife and motheEach year over 2600 young individuals are diagnosed with bowel cancer. Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and accounts for the second highest number of cancer related deaths per year. We know that early detection and diagnosis is vital, and that bowel cancer is highly treatable and even curable if caught early.
The Bowel Movement seeks to educate people about the key signs and symptoms of bowel and colorectal cancers to ensure that every individual faced with bowel cancer has the best possible chance of survival.
