Story
This September I am aiming to run the Great North Run in under 90 minutes to raise funds for the charity, Cardiac Risk In The Young (CRY), that has a very close connection to my partner, Bella, who tragically lost her younger brother, Seb (Sebastian Body) aged just 20, just 5 years ago.
In the UK, around 12 young seemingly fit and healthy young people die each week from undiagnosed heart conditions. Some of these conditions are inherited, while others affect the structure of the heart and develop over time.
This amazing charity potentially provides life-saving heart screenings for young people aged 14 to 35 years of age. These screenings include ECGs and echocardiograms, which are reviewed by cardiologists to detect and diagnose most cardiac abnormalities.
1 in 100 young people screened by CRY are found to have a condition that requires monitoring. As well as 1 in 300 are diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening cardiac condition, which in most cases can be successfully treated.
All your donations will go directly towards funding heart screenings for young people at the university Sebastian attended to ensure that fewer families have to go through what Bella’s had to endure.
Thank you for supporting this great charity.
