Story
I am taking part in both the London Marathon and The Lap, a 75km ultra marathon, raising funds for Caudwell Youth. These events are 2 weeks apart which means this is going to be a pretty difficult undertaking but I hope that I can run/walk (or crawl) my way across the finish lines without collapsing in the process.
Donating to Caudwell Youth will provide support to at risk young people, at a critical time in their lives (11-24). This helps them to improve their long term outcomes and provide an overarching benefit to society.
Caudwell Youth provide one to one mentoring and support to young people in the local communities of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. They are keen to work in new areas and grow the current service to be accessible to all who may need it. Any support, even a small amount will go towards supporting many more at risk young people.
The people receiving support may have one or more of the following, mental health needs, care experienced, at risk of or involved in offending behaviour and at risk of exploitation.
Caudwell Youth are a moderate sized charity and run with low overheads, so (unlike with some charities) a high proportion of the money donated will go directly to the cause.
There may be other events on the way/afterwards depending how training goes, so keep an eye out. And if anybody wants to help me train with a long run/walk, give me a shout!
