I'm Dan Nestor, 26 from Barnsley.

I am fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in March 2023! This once in a lifetime adventure which I'm also very fortunate and grateful to have the cost of this trip covered through my employer, therefore I would like to do my bit and raise as much money as I can for a very deserving charity.

I am raising money for the Barnsley Hospital Charity, with the money I raise specifically going towards the Neonatal Baby unit...

26 years ago I was born in Barnsley hospital with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck, I came out blue and not breathing and was placed immediately into intensive care at the Special Baby Care Unit (now Neonatal unit). I spent the first 10 days of my life there, also getting septicaemia in the process.

This is by no means a sob story! For obvious reasons I don't remember any of this and it is only what I have been told by my parents, for whom it was a very traumatic experience. It's fair to say that without the help from the nurses and the equipment in the unit, I wouldn't be here today.

I've asked for whatever cash is raised to go towards the Neonatal Unit as I want to repay the favour to help any other future baby in need. My sister is pregnant and expecting her first child, my first niece (up to now I'm still the youngest of the family!) making this cause extra worthy.

Any donations are greatly appreciated, especially with the current economic climate.
