What Are We Doing?

This year the Acorn Amble will be supporting the amazing Sheffield Charity that is Lenny's Legacy.

The Acorn Amble is an annual event that has made a significant impact over the years, supporting various charities and raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for their causes.

This year, we are participating in the Acorn Amble 2026, a 20-mile trek through picturesque landscapes, starting in Castleton and passing by notable landmarks such as Ladybower Reservoir, Low and High Bradfield, Oughtibridge, Grenoside, Ecclesfield, and Warnclilffe Woods before concluding at the Acorn Inn.

On the 11th of July 2026, we will be embarking on this personal trek to support Lenny's Legacy.

Why Are We Doing It?

We tragically lost our second child in December 2024 when he was just eight days old. We struggled to find a support network or people who truly understood what we were going through.

That’s when we were introduced to Lenny’s Legacy. They provided a safe and compassionate space for Stacey as she recovered from the trauma of birth and the injuries she sustained. Mim supported her through specialised Pilates sessions and offered a safe place to talk openly.

As the year went on and Child Loss Awareness Week approached in October, we became painfully aware that Sheffield, despite being such a large city was woefully underrepresented when it came to support for bereaved parents. The Wave of Light is a global candlelight vigil held every 15th October, where families honour their babies and children who have died. In 2025, we discovered that Sheffield had no official event for our babies. Lenny’s Legacy, however, stepped in and organised a walk for bereaved families. We met, we walked together, and we lit candles in remembrance of our children. The event concluded with the unveiling of a banner displaying over 600 babies’ names. For the first time, we were surrounded by people who had experienced similar loss and who truly understood how we felt.

No other charity or official organisation had created an event like this in Sheffield. Lenny’s Legacy has been an incredible support to us throughout 2025, and we will continue to rely on and champion their services as they grow.

What Is Lenny's Legacy?

Based in Sheffield, Lenny’s Legacy is a registered charity aimed at supporting bereaved parents throughout Yorkshire and across the UK online. We (Roy and Mim) founded the charity in loving memory of our two sons Lenny and Bhai who tragically died at different ages and in different circumstances. Our charity supports all parents who have suffered the death of a child or children at any age and of any cause, including during pregnancy.

We are a small charity with a big heart. We believe that bringing people with similar experiences together in supportive environments can be really powerful. We haven’t all walked in each others’ shoes but we have shopped in the same shoe shop so to speak. We provide regular free events for bereaved parents.
