**A Midlife Crisis… But Cheaper Than a Ferrari**
Hi, I’m Dan. I’m about to turn 35 — and instead of celebrating in a normal way (you know, cake, drinks, mild dignity), I’ve decided to mark the occasion by walking 192 miles across England.
Yes. This is how I’ve chosen to enter my midlife crisis.
On 4th July, I’ll be setting off from St Bees on the Irish Sea, heading across three national parks, and (assuming my legs don’t completely give up on me) finishing at Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea 12–14 days later… just in time to hopefully still be able to walk into my 35th year.
That’s nearly two weeks of blisters, unpredictable British weather, questionable navigation, and carrying everything I own on my back like a confused, exhausted tortoise.
So… why am I doing this?
Because this isn’t just about celebrating a birthday in the most uncomfortable way possible. I’m doing this in support of **Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)** — an incredible charity working to prevent suicide and support mental health, particularly for men.
The reality is tough: the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK is suicide. Every two hours, a man loses his life. It’s a devastating statistic, and one that highlights just how important it is to have support available when people need it most.
CALM provides that support — offering helplines, guidance, and a safe space for people to talk when they’re struggling. They’re there in those moments where someone feels like there’s no way out, helping them realise they’re not alone — and that it’s okay to say “I’m not okay.”
£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
By donating, you’re helping fund those life-saving conversations — genuinely making a difference when it matters most.
As for me, I’ll be:
* Sleeping in a tent (still questioning this decision)
* Climbing hills I’ll instantly regret
* Having deep, meaningful conversations with my blistered feet
* And celebrating my 35th birthday somewhere between “this is amazing” and “why didn’t I just go to the pub”

where you can Expect...beautiful views, emotional highs, and a steady decline in morale — and if you’re able to donate, every contribution (big or small) will support this incredible cause… and give me the motivation I’ll desperately need when I’m halfway up a hill rethinking everything.
Thank you so much for your support ❤️
(and please… wish my knees a very happy birthday too)
