As a teacher in the UK, I would like to sponsor a charity which focuses particularly on the education and future of children and young people in Ukraine, who have been affected by the ongoing war with Russia. You can read more about the charity here: https://www.svitloschool.com/about/about

I ran the route of the Berlin Wall in 2021 before (raising money for a Romanian orphanage), and have decided to take on the greater challenge of firstly of running the Wall again (in September 2025), and then in spring/early summer of 2026, hiking the 'Grünes Band'' long-distance hiking route (1300km) along the old East-West German border. As the Berlin Wall and the former East-West German 'inner border' previously demarcated the division between free, democratic countries in Western Europe and those living under the restricted and sometime repressive systems of the Eastern Bloc, I want to donate to a cause which shows Europe's support with Ukraine and helps children in Ukraine hope for and work towards a future in a democratic, free-thinking Europe.
