Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
About 13% of women will develop Breast Cancer at some point in their lives. For women with the BRCA2 gene this risk is a huge 90%.
Our Story
My lovely wife (Alison), sister-in-law (Mel), and mother-in-law (Jill) all have the BRCA2 gene and have been faced with huge life changing decisions.
They have all bravely decided to opt for double mastectomy surgeries with reconstruction, to reduce their risk of Cancer from 90% to around 9%.
Jill had her surgery on 17th January, Mel is scheduled in for 7th February, while Alison is due in early March.
I am also privileged to be the father of 3 beautiful daughters - Isla (12), Dolcie (9) & Bella (6) who sadly will all be given the option to be tested for BRCA2 when they reach the age of 16.
It's an understatement to say that BRCA2 will play a massive part in our lives.
Making a Difference
My brother in law Olly has already agreed to have his chest waxed in support, so I started to think...how could I do my part?
What am I most afraid of? Heights!!!! Nothing else even comes close!
During our family holiday in Wales on May 28th, I will be taking on the World's fastest zip-line "Velocity" at ZipWorld in Bangor.
Reaching a height of 150m and speeds of 125mph, I had instant regret upon confirming the booking. Too late now I guess.
For anyone who wants to see what I'll be doing (with my eyes closed), the link is below,

By trying to conquer this fear, I'm hoping I can raise some much needed funds for Breast Cancer Support in the process.
