Story
This year I’m aiming to break three hours for the first time in my running journey at the BMW Berlin Marathon, running in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK. It’s a challenge that means a lot to me - not just because of the stopwatch.
Alzheimer’s is a cause close to home. My grandad was diagnosed a few years ago, and since then we’ve seen the impact ripple through our whole family. The effect on the people closest to him, especially his wife of 60 years, has been challenging and it’s changed daily life for everyone around him.
Training for sub 3 hours will be demanding but it’s a privilege to be able to take on a challenge like this. I’m running in the hope that continued research can lead to better treatments and, one day, a cure - helping to ease the burden on families like mine and so many others.
