Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association.
What’s Dan up to now:-
* On 7/9 my window opens for my attempt to swim The Channel.
Why:-
* To see if I can & raise money for MND Association.
I chose MND after loosing our good friend ‘Uncle Al’ to it. I still cry when I think about him
Back Story:-
* I came back to swimming 7 years ago after a 26 year break.
Big Swims to date:-
Channel Relay 2020
Length of Ullswater 2021
Jersey to France 2022
‘Fun Facts’ about The Channel
It’s 21 miles as the crow flies (but due to currents, winds etc, I’ll swim a lot more)
Water temp 14-17c(ish)
It can take 7-27 hours to swim. I’ll swim till I’m finished
I will swim at night
Busiest shipping area in the world
It’s likely there won’t be much fun involved!
The Boat:-
Pilots Stuart & Sean
Boat The Sea Leopard
I will swim along side the Sea Leopard in the very capable care of Stuart & Sean.
Also on board will be Bob & a team of friends who will feed & support me over to France.
* I am not allowed to touch the boat or leave the water. If I do it’s over. So am fed by them team via a bottle & line
The whole swim will be witnessed by an observer.
I hope you can spare a few pennies.
I would love to raise £3,000. This could buy a text to speech device giving someone with MND the ability to communicate. With a little more left over.
