Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2026 · 10 May 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will take place on Sunday 10 May 2026 and has been inspired by the Burrow family and their extraordinary efforts to raise funds and awareness of MND. Rob Burrow CBE sadly died on 2 June 2024.

Story

I have officially lost my marbles. After swearing I’d only run one marathon in memory of my Dad, I’ve decided to see what a middle-aged shuffler has in the locker.

My Dad died at the too young age of 62. I thought a fitting way to celebrate his life, and perhaps more importantly, to raise money for MND, was to run two marathons a year until I get to 62. I’m 51 at the moment so I’ve got a long way to go!

To make it more tolerable for Gemma and Romy, I’m doing one in the UK and letting them choose the international one.

In 2026, I’m tackling Paris in April and then the Rob Burrow Marathon exactly a month later.

If you’d like to help by throwing a few pennies into the pot, it would be greatly appreciated.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.

MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.

MND Association Patron Rob Burrow CBE sadly died on 2 June 2024, four and a half years after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

We need your support.

£280 could fund the co-ordination of care for a person with MND at a care centre for a year

£1000 could pay for detailed analysis of the DNA of someone with MND to help us better understand the causes of the disease
