This summer I'm swimming the 6km Bantham Swoosh & Boomerang in South Devon, one of the UK's most iconic open water events. The route follows the stunning Aune Estuary through the private Bantham Estate, finishing on one of Europe's most beautiful beaches. In the final stretch, the tide will carry me at four times my normal speed. It's beautiful, demanding and unforgettable.

I'm swimming for Level Water, a charity that funds one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities. 36% of disabled children are isolated from physical activity, and for many, swimming is transformative. Last year alone, Level Water funded 50,000 adapted lessons across the UK.
