Story
Keep Hope Alive in 2026 đŸ’™
Every day, people walk through the doors of St Vincent’s Centre, Southend facing homelessness, poverty, loneliness, poor mental health and the rising cost of simply getting by.
They come looking for help. But our aim is to offer much more than a meal or a food parcel.
We offer Help, Hope and Opportunity.
In 2026, we are helping people move from crisis to independence. That starts with the basics – a hot meal, food, clothing, a shower and somewhere safe to be. From there, our team helps people with housing, benefits, wellbeing, recovery, digital access and practical support.
Then we help people take the next step through volunteering, activities, training and our Pioneer Programme, giving people the opportunity to learn new skills, rebuild confidence and prepare for employment.
From receiving help to helping others
Matt first came to St Vincent’s at a difficult point in his life, struggling with addiction and lacking direction.
Through the Pioneer Programme, he discovered a talent for 3D printing. His confidence grew, his skills developed and today Matt is helping to lead workshops and support others who are beginning their own journey forward.
That is what St Vincent’s is about – not simply helping someone through today, but helping them believe in tomorrow.
But none of this happens without your support.
Our Centre has significant running costs including rent, electricity, staffing, food, equipment and essential services. Funding these core costs remains one of our greatest challenges.
Your donation helps us keep our doors open, our meals cooking and our team alongside people when they need us most.
£5, £10, £20 or whatever you can give really does make a difference.
Together, we can provide more than charity.
We can provide dignity, belonging, opportunity and a route towards independence.
Help us Keep Hope Alive in 2026.
Donate today and become part of someone's journey from crisis to independence. đŸ’™
