Story
On 6th April 2025 I’ll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for The Skye High Foundation who support bereaved families during and after the loss of a twin, triplet or multiples.
As many of you know, in August 2023, our twins Delilah and Charlie were born prematurely at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital and were immediately admitted to the incredible Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to begin their early starts in life.
Sadly, after 12 loving days, our darling boy Charlie lost his fight to an infection that he had picked up, despite the amazing care that he received from the doctors and nurses.
Once a multiple loses a sibling, the NICU journey can become much more difficult than it was before. Upon Charlie’s passing a little card appeared on Delilah's incubator with a purple butterfly which had Charlie's name on it and little did we know how significant this became throughout the rest of our journey.
We had a purple butterfly sticker on Delilah's medical files and now on her red book, so every medical professional will know that she was part of a multiple pregnancy and the surviving twin, which saves us having the difficult conversation. However, the sign of a butterfly now means more to us than ever, it gives us so much comfort knowing Charlie is remembered and will always be talked about.
Every penny I raise is used to provide resources and training to hospitals and medical professionals on the loss of multiples, along with sending out packages to bereaved families for support. They are a small UK based charity so every donation is vital and could help a family just like us.
