Story

Climbing for a Cause: The Cornerstone Group’s 3 Peaks Challenge

In June the Cornerstone Group will take on one of the UK’s most iconic challenges—the National 3 Peaks. We’re aiming to complete the demanding trek across the three highest peaks of England, Scotland, and Wales, all within a 24-hour period. But this isn’t just about testing our limits—it’s about making a real difference for children facing battles far greater than a hike.

Our team is committed to raising as much money as possible for a cause that’s close to our hearts: the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre. In particular, we’re honouring the story of a young boy who has left an indelible mark on all of us—George.

In July of 2024, at just 3 years old, George was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumour. His journey, full of courage and hope, has inspired our team, but it’s also opened our eyes to the harsh reality faced by children with brain cancer. As George and his family have navigated this challenging road, one thing has become painfully clear: children’s brain tumours are vastly underfunded, with research into treatments lagging behind that of other cancers. Up until recently, the survival rate has been bleak.

This is why we’re dedicating all of our charity efforts this year to the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre, the leading UK facility for researching childhood brain cancers, operated by the University of Nottingham in partnership with the Queen’s Medical Centre. By supporting this pioneering centre, we hope to make a lasting impact in the fight against these devastating illnesses.

We invite you to join us on this journey. Your donations will go directly to funding crucial research that could change the future for children like George. Every step we take up those peaks will represent a step closer to better treatments and brighter futures for children facing brain cancer.
