Dan’s fundraiser for Lighthouse Club

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I have worked in the construction industry for over 20 years and we all know people that are 'fine' and 'ok', but what does that really mean?? For many years I was one of those people, quickly moving the conversation on from me, deflecting the attention for fear of someone asking more deeply if i was actually more than ok, or worryingly less than ok.
I would never have reached out for help and support instead 2 bottles of wine a night took the edge off the pressures of work and life, because i believed i was 'ok' and 'fine', until i was fortunate enough to realise with the people around me that cared, that i needed to take care of myself and get out, be active and change my mindset.
Not everyone is that fortunate and they can feel the permanent solution to what can be a temporary problem is the only way. So when i am plodding along the tarmac with temporary aches and pains from the training, its those people that will receive help from the donations that will help me to the finish line!
The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is dedicated to the emotional, physical & financial wellbeing of construction workers & their families. We provide a range of free pro-active resources to support the industry. Our free & confidential 24/7 Helpline & text HARDHAT service offers a range of information, guidance & support. These services are complemented by their free Self Support App. They receive no public funding so rely on the industry to 'support their own'. Every penny raised helps make a difference to a construction worker in need.
Thanks for supporting me and this fantastic charity
