Story
Hello everyone,
A brief back story, 2 years ago after a fair amount of time trying to fall pregnant Amy and I suffered a miscarriage which was devastating.
Despite our luck now changing and recently introducing our son to the world, the pain the miscarriage left still persists.
However, we were lucky enough to have received a memory box from the charity SiMBA at the time we were told we had lost the baby. Although we left the hospital without the news we had hoped to share with everyone, the contents of the box proved immeasurable in helping us move on and find closure.
The thought of knowing that not every person or couple going through what we experienced gets one of these boxes or the support they need is heartbreaking. So here’s my attempt at raising some money to help the charity that helped us, SiMBA.
Since lockdown back in 2020 I can count with one hand the amount of times I’ve ridden my bike, persistent knee issues and my love of pizza have a lot to say for this.
When thinking of a way to raise money for SiMBA and loving a good challenge I’ve decided to attempt cycling a 250 mile long loop of our new home, the Scottish Borders. Why not make it harder for my overweight, unfit self and try to complete the loop and all the lovely hills in a 20 hour time limit? Just as autumn is at its peak and the dark nights set in? 2 months away?! Aye, why not.
I will be documenting as much of the preparation and the ride itself as possible.
A 20 hour time limited 250 mile cycle, starting at the stroke of midnight on the 28th October.
If anyone wishes to show support towards this endeavour then please use this page to donate towards the charity that helped us invaluably.
Thanks!
Daniel
SiMBA responds to the needs of those affected by the loss of a baby. We help families create precious memories with their baby and offer beautiful ways to honour and remember them, now and always. We do this by providing precious Memory Boxes, refurbishing Family Rooms, installing Trees of Tranquillity, and coming together at special remembrance events.
