Story
For those of you who don’t know me,
My name is Daniel Granger.
I am a survivor, and I would like to tell you the story that led me to fundraising for The Frank Bruno Foundation.
I have fought mental illness. This year, I have been on a journey of self-discovery. I have managed to become completely sober, avoiding what used to be a coping mechanism. I redirected my focus to the gym and self-improvement, which eventually led me to boxing.
Recently, I discovered that my grandfather was a professional boxer in his time. Not only do I resemble him physically, but he also reminded me that I was truly on my path to finding my identity and why boxing has become such a passion for me.
So, here is a little background about me…
I experienced multiple traumas as a child, which ultimately led to further traumas and addictions in adulthood.
When I was 8 years old, my father committed suicide on Christmas Day.
Little did I know that this was the first fight I was about to face.
Later on, my brother battled addictions that cut his life short, leaving me without both of my closest male figures. This, in turn, led me into the next battle I was about to endure.
I was sexually abused by those whom I thought would keep me safe. After years of hiding behind a mask, I realised that I, too, had been using recreational drugs and alcohol to escape from my truth.
I understand that this may not be an easy read, but please stay with me.
I needed help, and I finally received it.
I never thought I would reach my 40th birthday, as no other male in my immediate family ever has.
There are many men out there who need a safe space to speak and express their struggles before it's too late. I found the Frank Bruno Foundation to be a secure place for mental well-being and rehabilitation through non-contact and contact boxing.
I wanted to give myself the chance to fully commit to something for one year and see what I can truly achieve. This meant giving up all addictions and dedicating myself to doing things outside of my comfort zone.
I signed up to fight in front of 800 people to learn the art of boxing. This keeps me accountable and fit, and helps me develop healthy habits. I thoroughly enjoy the training and the sense of brotherhood that this journey offers, and all of this is made possible through charitable donations.
FIGHT NIGHT
8th September at the Deco Theatres in Northampton.
I'm looking for sponsors who would like to have their logo on my kit. I have already received a generous sponsorship donation of £500 from SQUARE FEET Northampton, who will have their logo printed on my vest, prominently displayed on my chest 🙏 I thank you so much for your support 😊 This will enable one person to go through a life-changing program and possibly save a life. If you would like to sponsor my kit and donate, please message me. I still have space available on my backside, but that's expensive lol 😂
I have personally donated £1000 because I truly believe in this cause and foundation, and I greatly appreciate the work of James, the main man, who helps youths and adults build better lives on a daily basis.

For those who would be so generous as to donate and help me reach my goal of £5000 to contribute to the Frank Bruno Foundation, please visit my JustGiving link below. Here, I will be documenting my journey and personally thanking all those who donate.
