Story
On the 26th January we lost our beloved Katie.
A devoted wife, mum, sister, daughter and friend, Katie left a lasting impression on everyone she met and will be missed more than words can say.
Kate’s final days were spent at St Luke’s Hospice in Basildon. The care provided by the hospice was incredible. They created a peaceful and welcoming environment for those closest to Katie to visit and spend precious final moments with her. And crucially, they managed Katie’s pain with such compassion and expertise that her final days were as comfortable as possible.
What is not so well known about St Luke’s, is that they also provide outpatient care for those undergoing treatment. Katie was supported by St Luke’s during her cancer treatment, long before her final days.
It was Katie’s wish that any fundraising be made in support of St Luke’s Hospice. In her memory, I will be running the Brentwood Half Marathon in March followed by the London Marathon this April, with all funds raised for that going directly to support the incredible work of St Luke’s.
If you are able to donate, any contribution, no matter how small, would mean so much and will help St Luke’s Hospice continue providing the compassionate care that meant everything to Katie and our family.
