Walking 82 Miles for the Ramblers

Daniel Hawes is raising money for The Ramblers

Walking the Essex Way · 6 November 2026

The Ramblers is a charity dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces and to preserving and improving hundreds of thousands of miles of well-loved paths, tracks and trails across England, Scotland, and Wales.

Story

This November, I'll be walking the entire Essex Way, around 82 miles from Epping to Harwich, in just three days.

I'm taking on this challenge to support the Ramblers and the vital work they do to protect Britain's public rights of way.

As someone who regularly uses these paths, I know how important they are for connecting people with the countryside and helping us enjoy the outdoors. I believe it is crucial that these routes remain open, maintained and accessible for everyone. The Ramblers play a key role in protecting and preserving them, ensuring future generations can continue to benefit from Britain's incredible network of footpaths.

Every mile of this challenge will be walked on the very paths the Ramblers help to protect, and every donation will help support their work in keeping these routes open and accessible for all.

Thank you for your support.
