Story
I’m running the Great North Run for Dementia UK, in loving memory of my Granda Doug.
My Granda Doug was full of warmth, humour and kindness, and losing him in 2021 was incredibly difficult. He was first diagnosed with vascular dementia and in the later years of his life, he lived with Lewy body dementia (LBD), a complex and challenging condition that affects so many families.
I’m running for Dementia UK because their work truly matters. Their specialist Admiral Nurses support families living with all forms of dementia, offering practical help, guidance and emotional support when it is most needed. They help people feel less alone at a time when everything can feel overwhelming.
Taking part in the Great North Run is my way of honouring my Granda’s memory and doing something positive in his name. I’m proud to support a charity that gives families the care and support they deserve, and hopeful that the money raised will bring us closer to better understanding, treatment and one day, a cure.
Thank you so much for any donation you can give. It means the absolute world to me and my family.
