Story
"Get Fit for Guhyaloka" is a communal fundraising challenge in support of Guhyaloka For The Ages.
During the months of May through to the end of August, I’ll be taking on a personal challenge: swimming 4,000 lengths of a standard 25-metre pool. That’s just over 62 miles — roughly the distance from Derby to Birmingham and back!
I’m doing this to raise funds for Guhyaloka, a retreat centre dedicated to hosting men’s ordinations within the Triratna Buddhist Order.
As many of you know, I’ve been practising within the Triratna tradition for around eight years. In 2021, I asked to be ordained. The teachings of the Buddha — the Dharma — have profoundly changed my life. They have quite literally saved it. The friendships and spiritual community I’ve found along the way have been an essential part of that transformation.
Although I’ve not yet been ordained or been to Guhyaloka myself, I hope that one day my time — along with many other men walking this path — will come. When it does, we need to make sure Guhyaloka is still there, continuing its vital work.
Guhyaloka is a very special place that means a great deal to the wider Triratna community. If you feel able to support this cause, I would be deeply grateful for any donation, large or small. Every contribution helps ensure that this unique centre can continue supporting future generations of practitioners. 🙏
