Story
Nothing can prepare you for losing a child. It re-writes every fibre of your being, it completely changes the way you see the world, the way you see other people, the way you interact and present yourself. You don’t think, talk or tolerate the same.
Trying to navigate your way through life after losing your baby is impossible to put into words and no matter how many different ways we try to explain it, most will never understand. The loneliness, the isolation, the anxiety, the unbearable sadness and torment every second of every single day. No one should ever have to go into hospital excited to start the next chapter of their life after the birth of their child, only to leave with an empty car seat and a memory box.
In a time where we felt like we had nowhere to turn after losing Rudi, and juggling this horrendous new corner of our life, Held in Our Hearts were an absolute lifeline for Laura and I.
Held in Our Hearts provide bereaved families with crucial support following the loss of their baby/child. Real people, with real experience, who really care. We will be forever grateful for the support they have provided and continue to provide us. Sadly, we were not the first and we won’t be the last to be experience the horror of baby loss, and because of that I want to do my part to ensure that every family who comes after us, gets the support they so desperately deserve.
To that end, I will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon on 24th May 2026 to raise funds for Held in Our Hearts. This is a deeply personal journey, running does not come natural to me by any means, but I know our little man will be up there helping me through 👼🐻
If you’re in a position to do so, please donate to my Just Giving page using the link below and help support this genuinely incredible charity.
Thank you 💙
Let’s go get it 🏃
