I will be running the FInsbury Park quarter marathon (more prosaically known as the 10k, but I think quarter marathon sounds more impressive!) in order to raise money for the wonderful Broaden Out Their Horizons charity (https://both.org.uk/).

BOTH raises money in order to fund reciprocal school exchange visits between inner city London schools and schools in South Africa. The beneficiaries of these trips are young people who would probably never otherwise have the opportunity to travel as far. And the impact on these young lives is transformational.

We live in a time of increasing suspicion of others. I have been involved with BOTH in one way or another for the last ten years, and still believe that any effort, however small, to reach out across divides of nationality, race and/or religion needs to be supported and encouraged, especially among the young. BOTH do amazing work in this regard!

So I shall be putting my ageing body to the test once again to help them and hope you will join me in spirit with your great british pounds by donating!
