Fundraiser for Future Talent Musicians in the memory of Rosemary Parrott

Daniel Parrott is raising money for Future Talent Musicians
In memory of Rosemary Parrott
The UK Charity supporting young musicians from low-income backgrounds for 20 years. Through our provision of access to performance and development opportunities, mentoring and financial support, we strive to achieve an equal reality where all gifted and underprivileged young musicians flourish.

Story

This page is in the memory of my mum, Rosemary.

She died recently after a nine month golden time at Oak Lodge Care Home in Southampton, where she was able to focus on painting and writing poetry. She was a passionate musician, music teacher and church organist. However, she grew up at a time and came from a background where it was difficult to train as a musician. She had to battle to access musical opportunities and training throughout her life. Even when she was a successful church organist, it proved challenging to maintain a profile as a female musician in what was (at the time) a largely male dominated occupation.

Rosemary persisted with musical activity, and achieved a masters degree in her sixties.

She also published four poetry books (and there is still one more to come!).

I created this page to enable people to donate to Future Talent Musicians, to help open up pathways to music for people who would otherwise struggle with this.
