Story
Lynn’s story:
Lynn is a close family member who's life changed dramatically 17 years ago when she suffered a stroke. After spending two weeks in hospital, doctors then discovered she had also suffered a brain aneurysm which required immediate surgery. Although she showed incredible strength throughout her recovery, Lynn sadly never fully regained the health and independence she once had. Following another mini stroke last year which resulted in another hospital admission, alongside several other ongoing medical issues, her mobility and independence have been significantly reduced. Tasks that were once simple now require far more strength, patience and support.
During one of her recent hospital stays, my son was talking to Lynn about the marathons he had completed. Without hesitation, Lynn smiled and said that when she got out of hospital, she was determined to complete a marathon. It was a moment full of hope, determination, and the kind of spirit that refuses to give up.
Sadly, due to her ongoing health conditions, completing a half marathon on her own has proven impossible. But Lynn’s determination and positive outlook have not faded.
So to make her wish come true, my son and I will be taking on the London Royal Parks Half Marathon in a special way — by pushing Lynn in a wheeled chair all the way to the finish line. Together we will prove that with courage, family determination, and will power even the toughest times can be overcome.
