Story

We (Dan, Amy, Chris, James, Sam, Rachel, Alex, Claire, Aoife Ben, Joe & James) are running Loch Ness and Royal Parks Half Marathon for Tom, Sarah, and all other families that are impacted by SDS.

As a group running the events, Tom and Sarah were siblings, cousins, friends, and loved ones of friends. We are all running together to remember Tom & Sarah, and show support to all the other families impacted by SDS in the UK.

Throughout Sarahs life, she always wanted to be involved, as a family we would go out and do different activities together, and even when she wasn't well enough to join, she would find some way to participate, whether by standing on the finish line when her mum did a 25k trek for SDS, or by making lunch for everyone when we came back from paintballing. She was always there. If she was here today she would be cheering on at every stage of the marathon with a homemade cake at the finish line.

Tom hated being the centre of attention, but loved proving people wrong. He was strongest when people thought he couldn't do something. He never gave up at work, making sure that was the best he could be, and when he wasn't working he was training at his brothers MMA gym and preparing for a fight. If he was still with us today, he would probably run the marathon to prove to everyone that he is just as capable as anyone else.

From the beginning of Tom and Sarahs diagnosis' they both faced challenges and hardships, from having to be isolated in hospital for a time, to lack of knowledge and understanding of SDS in the medical community. Your donations will make a world of difference to individuals and families impacted by SDS now. By donating you are helping families stay together when a loved one has to travel a long distance for the hospital, you are supporting research into new medical treatments for SDS, you are helping support family days and community activities for all those impacted by SDS.

Thank you so much for your donation and support.
