Story
To all my friends, family, and beyond,
I’m doing my bit to raise money for my amazing nephew, Edward, by taking on a half marathon this July.
You can follow my journey on my Facebook page, where I’ll also be sharing more about Edward and his story.
A few years ago, many of you supported a campaign to help fund life-saving treatment for Edward, who has SMA Type 1. He has now had the life-saving treatment and is living a normal life.
That said, “normal” for Edward still comes with challenges. He needs regular physiotherapy to stay mobile and is working hard towards the goal of walking independently. He also has spinal issues and still uses ventilation at night to support his breathing and overall health.
Despite everything, Edward is one of the most joyful and inspiring little people you could meet. He’s incredibly bright, has a brilliant sense of humour, and loves nothing more than being around his cousins, always as the centre of attention.
The reason for this post is that funding for his ongoing treatment is running low. If you’re able to donate even a small amount and support my half marathon challenge, it would make a huge difference to Edward’s life.
I won’t be doing this alone—I’ll be running alongside James Cox, Grace Ravuwai, and Mark Cox.
Thank you all for your love and support.
Take care,
Dan
