Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Early last year, as I was training for my first ultra marathon, I was diagnosed with both a slipped disk and a hip stress fracture. After about 6 months rehabing and away from running I was able to restart my training and finally run that race in May of this year. It was a 54km (34 mile) race that took me 8:30hrs.
Now I am training for another race that was also derailed last year (due to the injury) and that will take everything I have - a 54km/34mile race with over 2,100 meters or 6,300 feet of elevation gain in the south of France - from Eze to Nice. This race will take place on October 5th and has a cutoff time of 14 hours.
I am currently running 5 days a week - around 70km a week - as well as weight training in the gym twice a week - to insure my legs and body are strong and can withstand all the work I have been putting myself through. My long runs are now upwards of 4 hours and have been very demanding but rewarding, as I can see the progress week after week.
Just as I was last year, I will be fundraising for the Latymer Foundation, giving students an incredible chance to change their lives by attending this great school.
You can follow my progress - both during freaking and on race day on Instagram @Run_Dannie_Run
