Story
I am running the London marathon in honour of my dear, late Brother Eoin. He was an exceptional runner and an even better Brother. He suffered a brain haemorrhage in 1999, aged 19. The haemorrhage was severe and he was not expected to recover.
All of Eoins courage and determination was required to recover and his rehabilitation led him to study and qualify as an Occupational Therapist from Cardiff University in 2007.
Headway was a charity that supported Eoin and he also volunteered with the charity. Eoin met his Wife Vicky in Cardiff and they relocated to create an idyllic life in Spain with their loving daughter Eira.
Eoin was daignosised with bowel cancer in 2016. This progressed and despite a heroic fight which saw him exceed the diagnosis; we lost Eoin. I will always remember how strong he was during the hardest of times. It still feels desperately unfair that Eoins life was cut short but in the short time we had him he made his mark as a calm, cool, kind, sensitive man that loved his friends and family.
Eoin and I enjoyed a great trip to Snowdonia with a friend of mine, Ian in 2009 and Eoin and I ran the London Marathon together in 2010. This motivated me to complete the Snowdonia Marathon in October 2024 (Done!) and to take on the 2025 London Marathon.
Eoin ran a PB of 3:30 which is a great target but may well be out of my reach. I will be thinking of Eoin with every step of the 26.2 miles.
Your donation will be hugely appreciated. Thank you for reading.
