Story

I am running the London Marathon 2024 to raise money for Spinal Research and to share the story of one my closest friends in life, Ben Kende!

For updates on training, fundraising and anything marathon related please follow... https://www.instagram.com/danielgoesrunning

In August of 2010, Ben sustained a spinal cord injury while representing Hong Kong at the Asian Junior Championships. Whilst the accident left him a quadriplegic, Ben has refused to let the injury define him or act as a blocker to achieving anything he's wants in life.

He continues to be a tremendous source of light and inspiration to anyone who knows his story and I want your help sharing it with others.

I sat down with Ben to learn more about his experience, you can catch our conversation here.

In honour of Ben and to show some thanks for the inspiration he's provided me over the past 14 years. I am running for the charity, Spinal Research. Their fantastic work continues to support so many like Ben, helping improve the lives of those who've been effected by paralysis and helping to beat it once and for all.

Someone sustains a spinal cord injury every four hours in the UK. Living with an SCI often means a lifetime of health and care costs, as well as the threat of secondary healthcare complications.

Spinal Research is the UKs leading medical charity focused on the repair and restoration of the spinal cord, and we exist to beat paralysis.

Spinal Research do not receive governmental funding; all projects are funded by donations.

With your help, we can #BeatParalyis.
