Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge 2024 · 22 June 2024 ·
Back on the 22 June 2023, I completed the 25hr Spinathon which resulted in achieving a wopping 24hrs32 in the saddle in an average lf 21 degrees to raise money for Young Lives Vs Cancer. The event was specifically taken with a young boy called Harry in mind. Harry is still, unfortunately, very ill and undergoing treatment. But one thing that really became evident throughout the whole event was the surprising number of people who were having to / sadly had had to care for a child with cancer.
Therefore, this year, opting for the slightly easier approach of participating in an event, not organised by me, to raise money for the same charity that provides essential, unforeseen, support to families living with a young person with cancer.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
Young Lives vs Cancer helps families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. They will all face it all together – but they can’t do it without you.
For Every £38 raised, this could enable a family the opportunity to stay in a Home from Home facility like Billy's House in Nottingham while undergoing treatment (https://www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk/what-we-do/a-free-place-to-stay/billys-house-nottingham/ )
Every £100 raised could provide new registration grants to be sought for a newly diagnosed young person or family which will aid them with the immediate costs associated with cancer diagnosis. This could be something as simple as covering additional fuel costs incurred through travel to specialist hospitals, enabling families the opportunity to get the best and most appropriate care required!
Your help and support is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
