Story
Raising money for CF care is a huge privilege and I feel so grateful for this wonderful charity. My best friend has cystic fibrosis and she has been continually supported by this wonderful charity and I value it tremendously.
A few years ago, Jess was constantly in and out of hospital. Always coming down with infections and needing IV’s. She was losing weight and her coughing had intensified massively and was was on oxygen most of the time to help her breathe. She had become severely unwell and I truly prepared myself for the worst. I couldn’t see her getting any better and she was preparing to go on the lung transplant list. But, she was so unwell, I didn’t think she would make it to the transplant. At this time she was given a drug on compassionate grounds and this drug quite literally changed her life.
Jess is now thriving, has gotten older (which for many of us is awful but for Jess it’s a miracle) and is now preparing to get married and hopefully start a family some day.
She’s turned 30, at the time a milestone birthday, but now thanks to the development of medication and support and assistance from charities like CF care this milestone is now something most sufferers of CF will reach.
I want everyone who has Cystic Fibrosis to have the same chance at life that Jess has, which is why I’m (reluctantly) going to run the Great North Run for Cystic Fibrosis Care.
Those who suffer with cystic fibrosis need to consume more calories than the average person. Due to the cost of living crisis food is more expensive and this is having a direct impact on people with CF. Cystic Fibrosis care help those with CF to get support with their nutrition and heating bills to help warm them because of the bad circulation.
Without this charity I don’t think Jess would be living the wonderful life she currently leads and for that I am eternally grateful to them.
So please..if you can, donate to this wonderful charity and allow them to continue the wonderful support they provide.
And… help motivate and remind me why I’m running (I am NOT a runner so this will be a challenge).
Thanks! Xx
