Story

For our story and every other story we can reach.

Life was going along just as it should, then all of a sudden it all changed; the rock of our family, Maxine our mum unfortunately began to feel unwell. We knew instantly that this wasn’t good, as she always used to be able to shake off absolutely anything. After battling through vast amounts of pain for weeks, with numerous hospital visits and incorrect diagnosis, mum tried to continue as normal, even helping me move house and lifting most of the furniture, with her usual brave face. But eventually the pain became unbearable and she was rushed into hospital. Forty eight hours later mum was rushed into theatre to remove a blockage from her bowel. As a family we were all totally unaware and unprepared for how severe the actual surgery was and how tough the rehabilitation was going to be. She remained in hospital for the next three and a half weeks. We thought that this was going to be the end of our battle as a family, only to receive the worst news, that the blockage was in fact cancer. Having still not said those words out loud, this is where our battle began and were we fight back. There where weeks where we felt completely Useless and there was nothing we could do to make our mum feel better. But mums strength and determination has inspired me to put my self through some endurance and try and raise some money to help people who will sadly go through the same amount of agony and turmoil we’ve been through. As a family we are a small one, but we are a tough one. We’ve fought numerous battles over the years but none tougher than this one. There’s nobody stronger than our mum. She’s now successfully completed her treatment post operation and is now rehabilitating and determined to become stronger than ever. As a family we are all on this journey together and moving forward into the next chapter of our life’s as a team.
