Story
Kieran McDonald is doing a 10k charity walk on the 22nd of November 2026 for Glasgow Humane Society. The Glasgow Humane Society have been saving lives on and around Glasgow’s waterways for over 230 years. Founded in 1790, they are the oldest practical lifesaving organisation in the world. The registered charity’s main aims are to preserve human life in and around the waterways of Greater Glasgow and to provide lifeboat and safety services where and when requested. This charity has one employee, Officer William Graham who also has a team of volunteers who work around the clock helping keep glasgow Clyde as safe as possible
Kieran is 25 years old and has been volunteering for the charity with his carer’s Danielle & Craig for the last few months. Kieran has a diagnosis of Autism and a severe learning disability and his new volunteering role his been life changing. Kieran has a sense of purpose now, a sense of belonging and great sense of personal achievement. Now Kieran, who is known for having such a beautiful kind heart, wants to give something back to the Humane Society and has decided this 10k walk is the ideal way. There will be many challenges Kieran has to face – due his autism the sensory aspect of the walk will be difficult and the walking itself will take lots of encouragement – but he is determined to do it & will have his family and friends cheering him on the entire way!!
So please help Kieran to help Glasgow Humane Society and donate what you can. We will keep you posted on his progress and thank you to all who donate to the fabulous cause. Go Kieran!
