Story
I’m raising money for Duchenne UK through JJ’s Stronger Tomorrow family fund.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a life limiting, muscle-wasting condition. It’s the most common and aggressive form of muscular dystrophy, diagnosed in childhood and mainly affecting boys. It causes progressive muscle weakness that gradually takes away independence.
I’ve decided to take on a half marathon, despite never being a runner. I’m doing it because JJ doesn’t get to opt out of Duchenne, and neither do we. Training is uncomfortable, hard and sometimes overwhelming but it’s nothing compared to what children with DMD face every day.
Duchenne UK was founded by families living with this condition and is the leading Duchenne charity in the UK. They fund research, push treatments forward and work closely with the NHS to improve care now, not just in the future.
If you’re able to donate, you’ll be helping to drive research, improve support for families, and push for a better outcome for children like my son. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
