Story

I’m excited to be swimming the English Channel in July 2024 with the Mencap Marvels. Our team consists of myself and 3 other amazing humans.

What does this mean?

We’ll swim the channel under the strict channel association regulations. So- only wearing a swimsuit, goggles and hat. We’ll start in Dover and take it in turns to swim an hour towards France until we get there!

The swim may very well start at night so we’ll have to practice night swimming too as part of the training.

To qualify, we’ll be completing a 2 hour ‘skins’ (ie no wetsuit) swim in the sea in early June with water temperatures less than 15.5 celcius under the strict channel association observation. When we complete this then we’ll have the ‘license’ to make an official channel swim attempt.

Our swim is in July where we’ll have a week of being ‘on call’- when the pilot says the conditions are good then it’s go go go straight down to Dover.

We are delighted to be doing this to raise money for Mencap. Mencaps visions is for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives. I couldn’t be prouder to be raising money to support them.
