Story
The staff team and people we support in our services are taking on a 5km walk (or push for those who use a wheelchair) on Friday 27th October which will be followed by a bake sale and tea party!
Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological and development disorder that affects the way the brain develops.
Rett syndrome can be devastating for a family. Having suspected something was not quite be right, suddenly they are told their child will be profoundly disabled, with multiple health problems including epilepsy, a curved spine, breathing problems, feeding difficulties and gut/bowel issues.
Rett UK is there to pick up the pieces; emotional support, high quality, accurate advice & information, advocacy, reducing isolation, empowering families, building emotional resilience and helping the person with Rett syndrome live a life worth living.
We help to support two young ladies who have both had this diagnosis. They live meaningful lives, participate in a range of activities and are both social butterflies in our home. The families of these wonderful individuals have consented to sharing this information to help to raise awareness.
Approximately 2000 people, mainly girls, in the UK have a diagnosis of Rett syndrome.
If you can spare a few pennies to sponsor us, we would be very grateful, as are those who benefit from the research and support that we can help to fund!
Thank you - Team Tiptree
