Story
I’ve been fundraising for the past few years for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity) in memory of our little boy, Lorenzo.
This year I will be running Newport 10k and for those that know me, you will know this is no mean feat. I absolutely despise cardio so this will be a challenge!
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read our story, it means a lot 🤍
I was 28 years old, I’d just gone on maternity leave and was very excited about bringing our first baby, a little boy, into the world. 5 weeks before my due date, our whole world stopped when we were told Lorenzo no longer had a heartbeat. I gave birth to our perfect baby boy at 10.12am on 25th April 2017.
We will never know why he died and the hardest day of my life was leaving the hospital without him. SANDS fund special rooms in hospitals and we were able to use the Butterfly Room in the Royal Gwent Hospital – it’s a suite specifically designed for grieving parents and families to spend time with their child and be parents. We are so grateful for this time we got to spend with him, which would not have been possible without SANDS.
Baby loss is such a taboo subject but it means the world to me when Lorenzo’s name is mentioned or I get the opportunity to talk about him or share his memory.
I am very lucky I get to parent Lorenzo’s sisters every day and the best way I know how to be a parent to Lorenzo is to share his name and keep his memory alive. Thank you for reading our story and I really appreciate any donations in memory of our little L.
