Story
My little cousin, Toby Brann, was 23 when he passed away after his battle with cancer on 24/03/2024. He was cared for in his final weeks by St. Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, who cover a huge area in parts of Devon and Cornwall. I am running six half marathons in six weeks to raise money for this hospice so they can continue to provide such essential care for people and their families in their time of need. Toby and my Auntie Helen and Uncle Rob were so grateful for the support their team provided and I’d like to be able to offer our thanks.
I am running the following races:
6th April 2025 - Sherwood Pines half marathon, Nottingham
13th April 2025 - Boston half marathon, Lincolnshire
19th April 2025 - Carsington water half marathon, Derby
27th April 2025 - Blackpool half marathon
4th May 2025 - Saltash half marathon, Cornwall
11th May - Plymouth half marathon, Devon - Toby’s home town
It will have been a year since Toby passing away, and I aim to finish up in Plymouth with the support of family and everyone who knew and loved Toby.
I am hoping to have my family and friends join me for different races and hope they can fundraise for the hospice too. I have it confirmed that all money raised goes to the hospice to provide care in the unit but also at peoples homes. It can cost anything from £800-£11,000 to provide care depending on level of need, so even raising £1000 will provide end of life care for one person and their family in the community.
I am thankful for anyone who can support this cause.
I will be running with the hashtag #loseyourselfinthemoment - every year myself and Toby would duet Lose Yourself by Eminem at Christmas time. He was always much better than me, but he was known by everyone to be so good at singing that song. It is also a great motivator for myself (and I will need to listen to it on repeat to get me up the hill at the end of the Plymouth half!).
A message from Toby’s dad:
St Luke’s Hospice is a team of amazing people - a small team who help so many people. But it is not until you need them that you can truly understand and appreciate their value.
We will be forever indebted for the incredible support they provided to Toby, and to us as a family, in our time of need from the devastation of when Toby was diagnosed with his terminal condition until the heart break of when he took his final breath.
We pray that you will never need St Luke’s, but we also pray they will have the funding to be around if you do. Because at your time of need, St Luke’s, a team of angels, will be there for you.
Please donate generously. ❤️
At home, in hospital or at the specialist unit based in Turnchapel, the money you raise on your run will help St Luke's to continue to provide specialist care for our patients and support for their families in your local community.
Thank You, for your kind support.
