Story
This year I’ll be running the London Marathon — which is 26.2 miles. That’s a long way. I checked.
A record breaking 1.1 million people entered the ballot this year… and around 15,000 - 20,000 got a place. So when I found out I’d got in, I was absolutely shocked. Odds like that?! I immediately went and put the lottery on because clearly I was on a roll. (Update: still waiting for that win.)
Jokes aside, I’m running for a reason very close to my heart. An incredible charity supported my mum through her breast cancer journey — during one of the most difficult times in our lives. They were there with advice, compassion, practical help, and steady support when we needed it most. They made sure she never faced it alone, and that meant everything to us.
So now it’s my turn.
When I’m struggling up a hill, questioning my life choices somewhere after mile 18, I’ll remind myself why I signed up. My mum faced something far tougher than 26 miles — and she did it with strength, courage and probably a lot more grace than I’ll manage on marathon day.
If you can donate, no matter how much, you’ll be helping this amazing charity continue supporting families like ours. And I promise every penny will power me forward… especially when my legs are negotiating a full shutdown.
Thank you so much for your support — it truly means the world.
