Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon · 6 July 2024

This Mental Health Awareness Week we are launching our campaign to raise £3,000 to support our Wellbeing Hub at The Bullring and Grand Central.

Story

I work for a brilliant charity called Birmingham Mind, and on the 6th July I'm running my first half marathon (eek) to support the work our teams do!

The 13th of May is the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, where we are raising money to support the Wellbeing Hub at The Bullring and Grand Central.

I'm really proud of the work our teams do at places like the Wellbeing Hub, and of the inspirational people who raise money for our charity every year.

As someone who has always struggled with my fitness and weight, running has given me confidence and helped with my own wellbeing in so many ways. Running that far is quite terrifying, but as an Albion fan, the route does go through West Brom which I hope will help with motivation!

The Birmingham and Black Country Half Marathon follows the canal from Wolverhampton to finish at Birmingham's Brindley Place. On what I can only imagine will be the hottest day on record, a dip in the canal will not be planned.

If you're able to donate anything towards the target that would be amazing (and please add a song recommendation to include on the running playlist!).

With your support, we can help Birmingham Mind make sure everyone living and working in Birmingham experiencing a mental health problem has somewhere to come to for support and advice.
