In memory of Kyle Place

From Ilkeston Town To Derby County’s Pride Park

To promote and protect the physical and mental health of children suffering from cancer by the provision and maintenance of holiday accommodation in the form of a caravan in Mablethorpe or Tattershall. so that children and their families can take a break from the everyday hospital/treatment routines

Story

Danny, Rich and the Ilkeston Town community will be taking part in a sponsored walk from Ilkeston Town’s New Manor Ground to Derby County’s Pride Park ahead of the Derbyshire Senior Cup Final.

The walk is approximately 10 miles and is expected to take around 4½ hours, with a few drinks stops along the way.

Just over a year ago, The Place family and Ilkeston Town lost a much-loved member of our football family. We are determined to keep Kyle’s spirit and love for football with us as the Robins look to become the pride of Derbyshire and bring home silverware at Pride Park.

More details of the walk will be shared in due course. Everyone is welcome to get involved — whether that means joining us for the full walk, meeting us at one of the pubs along the way, or simply making a donation. Every bit of support is hugely appreciated.

Let’s do it for Kyle ❤️

We are raising money for The Ben Parker Trust Fund, which began in March 2004. Its first fundraiser was a huge success, raising £11,000 through a major cabaret and auction evening in Ilkeston.

With that money, the Trust bought a caravan at Haven in Mablethorpe — the very first “Ben’s Den”. Since then, the caravan has provided free holidays for families with children diagnosed with cancer and leukaemia.

The Trust works closely with CLIC Sargent, who refer families, and with Haven, who kindly provide free entertainment passes so families can enjoy everything the site has to offer without spending a penny.

Mablethorpe was chosen for its warm family atmosphere, beautiful sandy beaches and fresh sea air. It is also only a few hours away, making the journey manageable for poorly children and keeping families close enough should an unexpected hospital visit be needed.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, and once you donate, the funds go directly to Ben’s Den. It is the most efficient way to give and helps save both time and costs.

Any support you can give means a great deal. Thank you.
