The IFS Foundation UK is investing in a series of projects with local communities in remote and rural areas of Sri Lanka focusing on five areas: sanitation, healthcare, education, access to clean water and employment opportunities.

Story

With what felt like unfinished business, we get the band back together for the often difficult second album. Now with a new member, Matt Fletcher on drums, we tackle the North Channel, & a relay swim between Northern Ireland & Scotland.

Once again under the Tynemouth Outdoor Swimmers banner we raise much needed cash for the IFS Foundation which aims to end the poverty cycle in Sri Lanka. Providing much needed infrastructure, education, resource, and aid.

The North Channel is considered by most, the toughest of the Ocean Seven swims in that it is very cold, is plagued by the notorious lions’ main jellyfish and involves many competing tides and currents all the way across right up until the final few metres. Swimmers can also be lucky enough to be accompanied by other wildlife like Orca Whales, Minke Whales, Dolphins and Seals across the route.

North Channel swims typically start near Donaghadee (on Northern Ireland's Ards Peninsula) and finish on Scotland's Rhins of Galloway - a minimum distance of 34.5 km (21.4 miles).

We will be training hard for this swim for the coming months and would greatly appreciate any support you could offer in the way of a donation to the IFS foundation for their continued work in Sri-Lanka.

Many thanks!

James, Mark, Danny, Jim, Paul and Matt.
