Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year I watched a film called ‘Sound Of Freedom’ based upon a true story about a group of children who were rescued from traffickers. Having later researched the subject matter, I was alarmed to discover that child trafficking is the fastest growing international crime network that the world has ever known.

Children who are victims of trafficking, are exploited in ways that is too shocking and disturbing for me to write about. However, what I can say is that child trafficking can lead to the destruction of a little child's mind, body, spirit and wellbeing. This trauma, which should never be visited upon any child is a heartbreakingly dark experience and yet many children are enduring this right now to the tune of 2 million child victims in the World today.

For me, this is a call to action to raise awareness for us to work together to combat this global scourge, because OUR CHILDREN ARE NOT FOR SALE!

My first step in helping these innocent victims, is to raise money for ECPAT UK (Every Child Protected Against Trafficking) who are a leading children's rights organisation working to protect children from child trafficking and transnational child exploitation. Whatever money they receive will make a vital difference in their ability to campaign against child trafficking and support children everywhere to help them live a life free from abuse and exploitation.

The challenge is for me to walk 75 miles from Sarria to Santiago in Northern Spain (The Camino) on 25th June 2024, taking in the landscapes of rural Galicia. This truly is a challenge for me as the only walking I do, is walking to my car!

I understand that times are tough at present, but any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!
